Hey guys! With my Senior prom this weekend, I decided to give you all a few tips with prom season lurking around the corner! I'll let you know what you should do and when, things to keep in mind and what to carry with you! So first things first; what to do! Well figure out when prom is! Gather as many details as you can about it, for example: Important dates, ticket sales, ticket cost, seating arrangements, theme, location and so on. After or while getting the info, keep an eye out for a worthy date. I chose my very best GBF (gay best friend) who I've known since middle school. Choose someone who will compliment your personality, who you'll have fun with and dancing will NOT be awkward with. My GBF, Ryan, is into fashion like moi and anyone who knows us both can tell you we're basically twins. Image means a lot to me, as it does for Ryan, so I knew he wouldn't let me down when it came to style. (HIS SHOES ARE PERF OMG) After you've asked or been asked, and it has been confirmed you two are going together, tell him or her your colors. If you haven't found your dress yet, maybe invite him to come along! Obviously Ryan did not do this seeing as how I'm making my dress.. After the colors have been decided, take care of the jewelry. My darling best friend, Amanda, found a gorgeous pair of emerald chandelier earrings for me and my other jewelry is just my gold cheetah ring with emerald eyes. (I feel it's very Red Carpet) Don't know where to go for jewelry? Forever21 of course. Try Claire's, Sears, Jc Penny, or MACY'S HELLO? Or try one of those small boutiques you've been dying to go to downtown. When shopping for jewelry, keep your dress in mind. What type of neckline does it have? Does have a cool undertone or warm? Does it have long lacy sleeves or is it strapless? Does it already have enough 'bling' on it or does it need more sparkle? Decide on what style shoe you will feel most comfortable yet stylish in. As a girl who would rather bleed than take off her heels in public, I chose a gorgeous pair of minimalistic, ankle-strap heels with about a 5" heel. Another reason for choosing this style is because I have a slit in my dress which will reveal my gorgeous heels as I walk. My sister-in-law actually wore flip flops to her senior prom! She wore an absolutely breathtaking ball gown that covered her feet so she had no need for fancy shoes! So just remember, just because it's prom doesn't mean you need fancy heels! Unfortunately I have to say this, ladies, keep your date's height in mind. Some boys dislike being shorter than their ladies! I'll write an entry about hair, makeup and everything else tomorrow!
Xx Caitlyn
