What's Up(state)?!

Hey guys! So being from New York, obviously, I felt like I should clear a few things up. Number one thing, I do NOT live in New York City. *tear* I wish I did, but don't! I actually live in Upstate New York. Otherwise known as the Finger Lakes region, this area of NY is gorgeous wine country. Although I do not go to these wineries, I love driving along the lake and seeing all the vineyards. The buildings are beautiful, too! Just about any house or building overlooking the lake is beautiful. Last night, my sister and law, Danielle and I went up to Seneca Lake to Watkins Glen. The South tip of the lake has a marina and a dock that you can walk out onto. Every year, they hold the Cardboard Boat Regatta in the marina. It's super cool to see all the ideas people come up with! You can only use cardboard and duck tape, nothing else to build your boat. I've always wanted to compete but never got around to it! Yesterday, Danielle and I just walked around and out on the rocks to enjoy the smell of the water and waves. I love watching all the boats rocking with each wave and seeing all the sailboats swaying in the wind. There's a beautiful and historic sailboat that goes out named, One Love. I've never been one to exactly drool over a boat or anything that isn't designer or One Direction, for that matter, but this boat is beautiful! All wood with the big sails billowing with each breeze. There are gorges all over in this area and I find them incredible. I think it's amazing that something so beautiful was formed without a single touch from man. Of course, that's typically when things are the most breathtaking, when nature haven't been disrupted by mankind. Well I'd best be getting back to bed, its 3:18 a.m. here and I need my sleep. I'll be writing several more posts about the beauties of Upstate New York this week so stay tuned! And PS- I graduate this weekend so don't be surprised if you don't hear from me!! :D

Oxblood, Sweat and Tears (Outfit #6)

PROM DRESS! Yay! So obvi you guys already saw this dress in my prom post. So I won't really write much about it. Lemme say for a second though, this dress might not look like it'll allow it, but yeah I can totes run around in this with five inch heels on. And I looked pretty dang good when I was doing it. Even if I looked incredibly frantic and about to pee myself, I looked good doing it! So blah blah blah prom dress description you've already read blah blah blah. Here are some pictures of me during and after the show! And ps.... HERE'S THE LINK TO THE WHOLE FASHION SHOW!!

Oxblood, Sweat and Tears (Outfit #5)

Can we just like, take a second for this dress? This. This dress. This creation is my second favorite out of my collection. And Erika made it look gorgeous. Fanfrickentastic. Inspired by the iconic little black dress and pearls, I nicknamed this garment the "Chanel" dress. Coco was known for her pearls and who better to bring the two classiest elements of a woman's closet together than Ms. Gabrielle Chanel? With a last minute model change, I thought I was going to have a heart attack but alas, Erika stepped in and was almost a perfect match for the garment! So, heart attack aside, this dress is made out of black silk taffeta and glass pearls. I spent a few hour hand seeing the pearls onto the shoulders but every minute was worth it. I love the way this dress came out. Simply gorgeous.

Oxblood, Sweat and Tears (Outfit #4)

Hello, again darlings. So here is outfit four. Outfits three and four were actually the same outfit coming from my heritage collection. They just morphed into different ideas. This outfit was originally supposed to have a blouse underneath but I changed my mind. The blouse would have keep the pleats that I mentioned in my previous post and the high waisted shorts changed into high waisted leggings. I felt it was too bulky though so I took out the blouse. I love these garments. The cropped jacket is the same fabric as the dress, both alpaca fur and lined with oxblood satin. The bandeau and leggings are the same fabric, Lycra from Stretch House, I believe. The buttons were originally plain gold but my classmate brought in a tin of her grandmother's old buttons and I found these! They're a little rustic with anchors and rope engraved, they give a vintage touch. Moving on to the next outfit/post now!

Oxblood, Sweat and Tears (Outfit #3)

HEY GUYS! Yeah I haven't posted in like a month, no I never even finished the posts about my garments, and yes I have been doing a terrible job being a blogger! However, I'll do my best to get the remaining posts up before this weekend. Into the outfit though! Omg. I. Love. This. The shorts fit Megan perfectly!! It was just perfect!! Another outfit coming from my heritage collection, this was originally a blouse with pleating down the center front tucked into a pair of high waisted shorts. I wasn't sure on the fabrics but it morphed and changed into this! A white, silk chiffon blouse with faux leather cuffs and collar tucked into a pair of high waisted, matching faux leather shorts with an exposed zipper down the center back. Keep reading and soon you'll get to see the entire fashion show!

Oxblood, Sweat and Tears (Outfit #2)

Oh my goodness I cannot wait to wear this darling. Inspired by a fur dress I saw on the streets of New York, this Alpaca fur dress is perfect for fall. Of my entire collection this really is the only thing that was the same from start to finish. I put in an exposed zipper all the way down the back of the dress so there was a small change in texture. I've actually already worn (and gotten pizza on) the scarf! I didn't even make a pattern for the scarf, I just made sure the cut edges were even and ran a stitch down the length! By far the easiest garment of my life. Well this entire outfit was the easiest! Definitely going to produce more. I can't wait to wear this in the Fall with some tights, the fur is so warm. Let me know what you think!

Oxblood, Sweat and Tears (Outfit #1)

So here is outfit one, an Italian cotton velvet blazer accented by authentic leather lapels paired with brocade cigarette pants. Originally a silhouette from my heritage collection, this outfit evolved from a black blazer with strong shoulders and satin lapels with bold red skinny jeans. I wanted to have a more mature collection so I changed the fabrics to be more luxurious. The leather lapels gave me so much trouble that at one point i thought about not even putting it in the show anymore. I did my best with it though, so here it is! The model is Sandy, who has actually modeled in New York Fashion Week before! I chose her to open my collection so she could almost set the mood for my portion of the show and I think she did fantastic! Let me know what you guys think!

The Girl From... Pittsburgh?

Hey guys! So I figured I should let you guys know why I won't be posting in about three weeks. This is my last week of school and I graduate in about two weeks. My party is the day after I graduate then I'm moving out of New York and into Pennsylvania for college! I start my first day of classes two weeks after I graduate so that's really when I'll be busy. I have to pack everything up, say goodbye to everyone, share my final thoughts then kiss this town goodbye! I'll be attending the Art Institute of Pittburgh for Fashion Design. I don't plan on staying here for more than two years, however. This year I plan on really building up my portfolio and perfecting my garments. I'd like to get things professionally shot and developed, as well. The entire reason why I'm doing this is so I can eventually break into FIT. Every fashion major's dream. I have to admit that FIDM is sneaking itself back into my mind and Cali is lookin' prettay good lately. But we'll see where the future takes me. Just like every other fashion major knows, you gotta move to the city to be successful. I'm going to put up a tutorial pretty soon on some of those high waisted shorts you see everywhere and on me! So stay tuned for that and lots more!

Oxblood, Sweat and Tears.

Hello my fantastic, loyal readers! It brings me great pleasure to finally present to you and the world my Senior Collection. This collection means the world to me. It was inspired by many of the elements you would typically see at Paris Fashion Week. With rich colors, unusual textures and metallic brocades I felt this was a mature collection I could be proud of as I took responsibility for these garments. From start to finish, I have put my heart and soul into every piece. My junior year I had an assignment which was to create an entire line based on or inspired by my heritage. Being obsessed with the gorgeous French culture, I of course jumped on my French heritage. I designed a small line titled "Mon Petit Chou" which translates to "my little cabbage". The phrase is typically said to a lover or child. I chose that as the name because I was inspired by the romance and almost magic of Paris. Then we have the color. Enter oxblood. I honestly have no effing clue how many times I've said oxblood in the past year. Like oh hey oxblood chiffon, oxblood Lycra, oxblood velvet, oxblood leather, oxblood thread, oxblood MYblood from pin pricks, oxblood oxblood friggan oxblood. Yeah, that felt good. But for realz, the color came to me as I was sitting in Phili waiting for my flight back in August. I was reading Glamour with the GORGEOUS Victoria Beckham on the cover. They had a story about oxblood which was named color of the year. I immediately became infatuated with the color and the rest is pretty much history. Now I suppose I'll do what my fellow blogger and classmate, Anna (fangirlandfashion.blogspot.com love you girl 😘) did. For her collection, she put up separate posts for each garment. That way I'll have a beautiful garment description for each! Woooo! Well there you go folks, a small story on my collection. Wait until you hear the story behind my prom dress.. It's scholarship winning ;) (hahaha see what I did there? It's not award winning, it's scholarship winning) okay bye lovers!

Heeeeeey babies. So here's just a super quick teaser of my Senior Collection! Not all of it, but my models walked out right after I closed the show in my prom dress so that's why it's blurry! But here we are, part of my Senior Collection! The big post will be up this week, I'm waiting until I get word of the entire show being put on Youtube. Enjoy the teaser!
